About the features of resources of defective bearings

The discovery of a new type of cracks, complementing Griffith-Irwin cracks, put forward the problem of a more detailed study of the state of products, namely bearings, which have the risk of acquiring crack type defects. Since this process can occur at the stage of operation of the product, the question arises of its resource before achieveing the conditions for its safe replacement. In the paper by means of an example of conventional models of bearings, the properties of a bearing with a defective coating are studied. The model is a deformable material of the bearing race in the form of a layer, having a coating with a crack, which has a thin lubricating layer of liquid on top. The fluid layer is exposed to the effect of vertical pressure from above from the bearing itself. The properties of contact stresses in the zone of the defect are investigated with allowance for external influences.
