Axially symmetrical problem about stability of a coating - substrate system
UDC
539.3:534.1Abstract
The problem of stability is analyzed for an infinite plate (coating) under the action of a three-dimensional longitudinal force during axially cylindrical curving. The plate has bilateral contact with an elastic layer (substrate) whose base is fixed. It is determined that as the properties of the material approach those of an incompressible material, the critical force becomes considerably smaller than that calculated by replacing the elastic layer by the equivalent Fuss-Winkler foundation. The results can be used for the analysis of properties of coated bodies and laminated composites, as well as in geophysics.
