Solution of the system of gas flow equations along geodesic lines in special metric to reduce risks at gas pipelines

Abstract

The work describes modification of the characteristics method, which consists in integrating of a 4D system of ordinary differential equations along phase paths. These paths can be interpreted as geodesic lines in special metric. The integration problem can be formulated as an extremal one, and its solution (along the curve) reduces the computation problem in comparison with the characteristics method, which uses two-dimensional region for the solution.
