Integral-optical refractometer based on channel metal-dielectric waveguide: three-dimensional simulation

Three-dimensional method of beam propagation has been used to model a waveguide sensor, based on the plasmon resonance effect. The input waveguide mode efficiently excites the combined waveguide-plasmon wave. The condition of optimal coupling has been selected with the help of mode analysis. It is possible to carry out direct photometric detection of variations of refraction index of 10-5 order.
